November Watching of Boardwalk Empire

A war is brewing in Atlantic City, and in tonight’s episode of “Watch Boardwalk Empire,” Nucky takes steps to preserve his way of life. He begins the episode in Chicago, where he’s attending the Republican National Convention of 1920. After bribing his way into the Presidential suite at the hotel he’s staying at, he runs into Senator Edge, a.k.a. the politician who scammed him out of his roads funds. Edge asks Nucky to visit Harry Daugherty, the campaign manager for Warren G. Harding, on his behalf, primarily just because Edge is enthusiastic about being the Republican VP candidate - just not so much that he’d give up a romantic tryst with some floozy.

Having Nucky take his meeting for him could be a bad move on Edge’s part. Nucky, still angry at being screwed over, assesses both Daugherty and Harding as a Presidential candidate, and realizes that Harding - though an “imbecile” political puppet who can’t keep it in his pants - has what it takes to get in the direction of the White House (which naturally he does… and ends up being the worst U.S. president, ever). He promises Daugherty he’ll throw the Jersey delegation behind Harding if 1) Edge doesn’t get the VP slot and 2) he’ll be allowed to help with Harding’s lady dilemma. Being a softie for babies (turns out, he was once a father of a young boy that died), he solves the latter by volunteering to house one of Harding’s mistresses and bastard son with Margaret until after the election.

Nucky isn’t able to value his machinations in person, even so, as a consequence of the reality he learns that his brother Eli has been shot although producing a money pick-up at a casino. Realizing that he and his brother are now at war, Nucky uses the opportunity of being in Chicago to meet with Jimmy, and begrudgingly offers him dollars to return to Atlantic City and assist him beef up his operations. Jimmy, of program, is doubtful, and although considering Nucky’s offer you, calls up his mom to ask her about Lucky Luciano instead. That' why I love watching boardwalk Empire

Nucky also flags Jimmy in the direction of the reality that the dollars he’s been sending residence to Angela - still unrealistically thinking she’s going to make it as an artist - and his son isn’t getting to them. Turns out, Agent Van Alden has been hording his letters. And just every time you think Van Alden could crack and use the money to support his barren wife, who’s desperate to have a medical operation to help her get pregnant, the Fed sends all the funds back to Angela.

Elsewhere within the BE world, Rothstein prepares his legal testimony denying he fixed the World Series, Lucy attempts keep buying clothes at Madade Jeunet’s despite no longer having Nucky’s credit line open at the store, and Margaret (in addition to slapping Lucy) is instructed by Nucky to safeguard his accounting books so long as Eli is out of pocket and he’s in Chicago. Though she tries not to look, her curiosity gets the much superior of her and she sneaks a peek at the numbers behind Nucky’s operation. Though I doubt she’s on her way to being Nucky’s consigliere, knowing a bit about his organization dealings certainly gives her enough leverage as not to be cast out like Lucy was.
